Another funny by Logan:

Today we were sitting at lunch chatting and Logan says to me:

"You know what Mommy?"

"What Logan?"

"Did you know I'm famous"

 "What?!" (kind of laughing)

"For real... I am...all of my friends at school know it too!"

"Are your friends famous?"

"Nope! Just me! Aren't you happy?"

"Well, sure! I am just curious though...what makes you famous?"

"Well, I say "what's up bro" and do a wave like this (demonstrates a nod and a hand slightly raised up...like a guy in Hollywood...) and all the girls like it! And Nicholas wants to be like me...)"

This child cracks me up! I'm just sure there has to be more to the story... :) These are the silly 5 yr old conversations I don't ever want to forget!

Another one that Logan has been saying forever is "a long day ago" meaning yesterday.... Ha!

A Sick Boy...

This weekend was pretty long and uneventful. Logan was sick the entire weekend (and is still sick yet today). Thursday he developed a cough that lingered throughout the day. I thought it might be the dust stirred up from all of the packing I have done (with moving right around the corner...). Friday he developed a fever accompanied with the cough, runny nose, and sore throat. Definitely not the dust...he is a sick little man!

We spent the entire weekend being quite lazy... It was a movie/cuddle type of weekend. He was/is pretty much miserable and I just hate it for him. :(

Picking up the girls on Friday...that is his stuffed chinchilla and his "Jesus blankie" that he sleeps with every night.

Laying in Mommy's bed watching some tv...

Glassy eyes, red nose, messy hair... My sick baby. :(

I am not one that is quick to jump to the doctor...but if it doesn't start improving soon, we might just have to make a trip to Dr. T!  With my husband in the medical field I have learned that relying on antibiotics for every single cold, cough, and what-not is NOT a good thing and doesn't allow the immune system to fully develop. I truly believe that this is why Neil, myself, and the kids don't get every single cold, cough, flu, etc that goes around...

Well - my little man is awake now- going to go and make him some tea and toast! Have a fabulous day!

New Med...

Our pediatrician has been regulating Logan's medications for over a year now. About a month ago we went back to our ped because Logan's aggression has been getting worse by the day/week and we are very concerned. We explained to the ped that Logan has started to bite himself and others (including myself) on a regular basis, the hitting and kicking have increased, and life in our house has been pretty hairy lately. Dr.T decided to try him on Adderall XR 5 mg. We gave it 3 weeks before we threw in the towel. I guess increased anger and aggression is a common side effect with Adderall in ADHD children that have an aggressive demeanor. It was bad! So we made an appointment with a child behavioral psychiatrist.

The psychiatrist, Dr. B, seemed pretty right on with her train of thought and her analyzation of Logan. She talked with him, and then with myself, and then she explained what she thought he might have going on. She thinks that on top of the ADHD there is also the possibility of a mood disorder such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) or Bipolar Disorder...she is NOT labeling him with one of these, but says that this is a possibility. She is going to treat him for a mood disorder and ADHD. She is taking somewhat of a different approach with the medications. She is increasing his Risperdal by .5 mg in the evening so that he will be at a steady dose throughout the entire day; it was 1 mg in am and .5 mg pm previously and now it will be 1 mg am and 1 mg pm. She also prescribed a medication called Trileptal (which is normally used in seizure patients...but has been successfully used as a "mood stabilizer" in children with severe mood disorders).

Today has been his first full day of being on the medication... He is VERY crabby, cranky, and TIRED. Luckily I knew what to expect... I knew that the combo of these 2 meds would make him a little tired initially...and when he is tired...he is a GROUCH (aren't we all?!?!). So we will take each day one day at a time.

Praying that the medications will help him to control his anger, or at least bring him to a level where we can intervene and help redirect him more easily. I want him to know more than anything that we love him! This has been a LONG journey and I am sure we still have a LONG journey yet to travel, but as long as we have prayer...I think we will be good! Trying to stay optimistic! :)

Thanks for taking the time to keep updated!

My "Preschooler"

See...this is why I don't like getting behind on my blog... I can't think of where to start! Life has been so busy!

Logan started preschool this past week. He seems to be adjusting well (and testing the boundaries a little already). He is excited to take his Valentine's to school tomorrow! :) I thought I was going to be completely lost without my little man here to keep me company, but turns out I can manage a few hours solo! I'm pretty sure 2 hours of uninterrupted cleaning is really equal to about 4-5 hours of my regular cleaning time!

We have also been blessed by finding a house that suits us perfectly and close on it on Feb 29 and take possession on March 15th. I am SO excited to get the kids into the better school district, have more space, and to have an awesome fenced in back yard with a pretty cool deck! :) I have a few projects in mind for the new home...like replacing the tile in the kitchen...and going to hardwood flooring on the main level.

Tonight the kids went to a nursing home with their Sunday School and entertained by bringing Valentine's cards, stuffed animals, candy, and singing their little hearts out to all of the folks there. They did a fantastic job and put lots of smiles on all of the old peoples faces!

Logan starts his swim meets again tomorrow. I think he is pretty excited!

Our home inspection is on Wednesday, too...so we are praying for positive feedback!

Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you all have a blessed week with your sweethearts!
